I normally get a few spam e-mails that get through the filter and claim some businessman or royalty wants to give me a ton of cash in exchange for a few token dollars.  hehe  Said people are usually from China or Nigeria, but it appears that our troops are in on it now. Gasp!

 

Gays and lesbians have a very special place in religious discourse.  One can see the effort and attention that the religious community has put behind Proposition 8 as proof that they are very interested in how we feel romantically.  There were many arguments put forth by the supporters of prop. 8.  Slyly, they avoided mentioning scripture and beliefs that would reveal a religious conspiracy to put Biblical influence into out laws and public institutions.  However, let us go over a few I still remember:

 

Hmm, seperate but equal treatment you mean?  I think we all know how well that turned out.

 

I means that you are imposing your values on others, values which harms and infringe on the rights of others.

 

No.  The judges did not impose any restrictions to anybody's freedom of worship or expression.

 

No.  It may be mentioned, but no more than marriage betweena man and woman.  I don't even remember being taught how regular marriage works.   Trust me, people do not need lessons on how to get married.  Fuck you.

 

What?  If marriage is under attack, it is being attacked by the theocratic fascists.  They are the ones preventing marriages and stripping other people of their joy.  I fail to see how gay couples could possibly harm families, unless you are trying to protect your children form the evils of the gays.

 

Prop 8 supporters embarrassed the state, our nation, and people in general to vote yes on a law that made people second class citizens based on their genes.  It was the most ironic thing to hear statements from the supporters after interviews.  I truly pity them.  There was a black woman who supported prop. 8 on BBC news.  She referred to gay marriage and gay couples as an abomination.  Abomination!  Just like the marriages and children of interracial couples were referred as 50 years ago by the oppressive class.  They just do not realize how hypocritical they are.  I think all of the people who were supporters of the 8 would raise a large scandal if their rights were trampled on.  It's just really sad to see the same fervor applied to take rights away form others.

 

This law completely violated the spirit of what it means to be American.  Are we privy to the idea that we should do whatever we want provided it does not infringe on the rights of others?  Are we not supposed to stand for what is the right thing to do?

 

Gays are very much a threat to the Bible.  Some may realize it, some may not.  They are not insturmental in proving or disproving the existence of god, but they are in a unique position to give even less credence to the bible.  You see, whether or not you take the "lie down with another man" verse literally or not, those who hold steadfast in their belief that the bible is nothing but truth, and the unprocessed word of god, tend to take the it very much as homosexuality being forbidden.  If it is forbidden, then this state of being is forbidden.  It is forbidden TO BE homosexual, not just forbidden to do gay things.  If you are homosexual, then why are you a sinner, that was created by god as a sinner.  "No, homosexuality is a choice!", some say.  However, most people who are actually gay will say they had little choice in the matter.  Why would god create people to be gay if he is just going to forbid it?  If they are homosexual by choice, then they are truly sinners.  If they were destined to be lesbian, then they cannot be sinning, since sin requires choice; unless you are Catholic, in which case you are filthy from sin the moment you are born.

 

 

It seems the religious seem to pop up in the most unlikely places. While by and large the scientific and engineering community has a higher percentage of agnostics and atheists, many are still devoulty faithful to a religious deiety.  That provides plenty of ammunition to those religious authorities that wish to dictate what they consider to be truth in the world of pure scientific discovery.
 
In particular, evangelical christianity has tried to muscle their viewpoint in serious scientific discussion and instruction with the disgused premise that the question of evolution is in fact merely an alternative point of view to the biblical proclamation that the world was literally created as it is about  10,000 years ago.  This theory of evolution is very much offensive to many a bible thumper, as it obviously fundamentally undermines it's first chapter.  lol. Let us not mention the meny ways the bible cantradicts itself, but this is assumingwe are using the english verion of the bible, which has been "revised" many times and is several degrees of translation from the original manuscripts which constitute the bible in it's first form.

 

There is a great degree of alternative christian education which merely "corrects"
those aspects of science that is offensive to the lamb-like mind and presents
to children that wrong idea of how the world works.  THis is worse than Bill O'Rilley declaring on his FOx new channel that he prefers his christian beliefs than those that science has to offer just because Christianity has a answer for all his questions about the world and science has yet to find ALL the answers.  THat is like seeing a 100 question test completed in 2 minutes with all the answer bubbles marked on 'C' and an incomplete test turned in at the time limit, and declaring the 'C' bubbled test perfect because it has all the questions answered.  It is worse because o'Rilley is merely handicapping himself by believing in that and saying it, whereas Spreading these teachings handicaps the future keepers of our land.

 

Even so, being a good christian is not incompatible with being a good scientist, unless being a good christian requires one to never refute the words of a book written my old guys a long time ago.  Hell, even I am just picking on christianity because it is such a big force in the US.  Im sure i would be picking on fundamental Islam more if it had bigger influence here, not to mention any religion that would interrupt the work of legitimate discovery my meddling in
the game of pitting fiction against verified facts.  In fact, the very exsistence of a god is not in question with these issues.  THe only thing which is at risk to these religious entities is the valididty of their system of worship and teaching.  A supreme conscious entity cannot be strictily disproven by all the current scientific knowledge.  However, when these tales and hersay about the nature of a god, and the desires of a god are turned into a declaration of reality to provide comfort for, and simultaneously terrorize, a population into obedience, the very destiny of the human species becomes no brigher than a decaying campfire.

 

According to most major monotheistic religions, the past, present, and future is known to this so called god.  This being lives outside of time and space and is responsible for its creation.  Christianity in particular is party to said god imparting on us humans a free will.  We can do anything we please, but not without consequenses of course.  That means that the future is forever in a state of question, because if we truly have free will, that means that we can take any action and affect the outcome of just about anything later on.  But, god clearly knows what is gonna happen in the future.  Why bother giving humans free will, if is clear that the future is predetermined since god knows everything.  God doesnt know the future?  If jesus is by christian dogma a god, and he clearly predictied the time of his demise, not to mention the perpetrators, then did Pontious Pilate, the Jews, and Judas Iscariot clearly commit a crime?  Certainly, if they had free will, their course of action was clearly their own to choose.  But if jesus predicted the terrible pleasures that awaited him, then the torturers of christ had no choice, even if they wanted or not wanted to do the things they did, they were destined to do them.  There was no question as to what the outcomes of their fate on the supposed day of the crucifixion of christ were, according to the bible.  Yet, there is the declaration that we actually have free will.  So which is it?  Was jesus just rambling about his suspicions and gave a really educated guess about the future?  Or did he really anticipate Peter was going to deny him 3 times before the cock crowed, in which case humans don't really have freedom of choice.  This very well implies that the bad actions of people have as much meaning as the good ones, since we are not as seemingly responsible for our actions as we are.

 

So which is it?  Is the Bible, Quran, the absolute truth?
Or can you take liberty with their words?

 

If they are the absolute truth, are you to evangelize the world and conquer it until everyoneon the planet is subject to them?
